How stipendio netto in Italy is calculated
Italian payroll deducts INPS social-security contributions (9.19% for most employees) from gross, leaving the IRPEF taxable base. IRPEF is then charged on three bands: 23% up to 28,000 EUR, 35% to 50,000 EUR and 43% above.
A key relief follows: the employee tax credit (detrazione lavoro dipendente) reduces the tax, and is largest at low incomes, tapering to zero around 50,000 EUR. Italian salaries are usually paid over 13 or 14 monthly instalments, so the monthly figure divides by 13. Estimate, not tax advice.

Frequently asked questions
What is the net salary for 30,000 EUR in Italy?
On 30,000 EUR, INPS takes 9.19%, IRPEF is charged at 23% on the remainder, and the employee tax credit reduces it. The calculator shows the exact INPS, IRPEF and net over 13 payments.
What is the detrazione lavoro dipendente?
It is a tax credit for employees that lowers IRPEF, worth most at low incomes and phasing out around 50,000 EUR of income. The model applies the 2025 formula automatically.
Why divide by 13?
Italian contracts commonly pay 13 (sometimes 14) monthly instalments, including a Christmas bonus month, so the net monthly figure is the annual net divided by 13.
