How salaire net in France is calculated
French payslips show two nets: net before tax (net avant impot) and net after tax. Social contributions come off gross first — CSG and CRDS on 98.25% of pay, plus old-age and complementary pension contributions — leaving the net before tax, roughly 78-79% of gross for a non-executive employee.
Income tax (prelevement a la source) is then computed on the family-quotient scale: taxable income is divided by the number of parts (1 for a single person, more for a couple or children), taxed on the 0/11/30/41/45% brackets, and multiplied back. A 10% abatement for professional costs applies first. Estimate, not tax advice.

Frequently asked questions
What is the net salary for 30,000 EUR gross in France?
On 30,000 EUR, CSG/CRDS and pension contributions come off first to give a net before tax around 23,700 EUR, then income tax on the single-part scale is applied. The calculator shows both nets.
What are parts fiscales?
The family quotient divides taxable income by a number of parts (1 for a single filer, 2 for a couple, plus half a part per child) before applying the tax scale, which lowers the tax for larger households. Change the parts field to see the effect.
Why are there two net figures?
Net before tax (net avant impot) is pay after social contributions; net after tax subtracts the income tax now withheld at source. French payslips display both.
