How take-home pay in Ireland is calculated
Irish pay is taxed at 20% up to the standard-rate band (44,000 EUR for a single person) and 40% above, but tax credits — the personal and PAYE credits together worth 4,000 EUR — are subtracted from the tax due.
On top of income tax, the Universal Social Charge (USC) applies on a banded 0.5%-8% scale, and PRSI is charged at 4.2% (rising to 4.35% from 1 October 2026). The calculator combines all three. Estimate, not tax advice.

What are tax credits?
Fixed amounts (personal 2,000 and PAYE 2,000 EUR) subtracted from your income tax, so the first slice of tax is effectively cancelled.
